I'm Owen lucas

At Owen Lucas Photography, weddings are documented with a true reportage approach — honest, unscripted, and deeply personal. I focus on the in-between moments: the quiet anticipation before the ceremony, the unfiltered laughter during speeches, the fleeting glances that say everything without words. Rather than directing your day, I blend into it, preserving the atmosphere and emotion as it naturally unfolds, while creating timeless portraits that feel effortless and authentic.

Beyond weddings, my portrait work is contemporary and emotive, designed to capture more than just appearance. Whether it’s an individual session or a meaningful milestone, I aim to create images that feel powerful, natural, and deeply reflective of who you are. With thoughtful lighting and a relaxed approach, each portrait becomes a balance of artistry and honesty.

Above all, my goal is to create photographs that stand the test of time — images that feel as real decades from now as they did in the moment they were taken. Every story is unique, and it’s a privilege to document yours with care, intention, and creative vision.

“Believe in a love that is being stored up for you like an inheritance, and have faith that in this love there is a strength and a blessing so large that you can travel as far as you wish without having to step outside it.”

"Owen was punctual, professional and lots of fun. At no time was there ever a feeling of pressure. With a lovely, laid-back vibe he captured loads of great photos and we all really enjoyed the experience. Highly recommended!"

My philosophy

I believe in authentic, emotive, and personal connections

Wedding photography and portraiture are fundamentally different experiences. Weddings are about honouring a ceremony and celebrating the gathering of families and friends. The photographs are important, but they remain secondary to the natural flow of the day. While we may set aside a little time for portraits, my role as a photographer is to fit into your wedding day—not the other way around.

Portrait sessions, however, are a different experience entirely. We dedicate a specific time—either in the studio or on location—where the photographs become the sole focus. We’ll discuss outfits, backdrops, and ideas beforehand, and during our session we’ll take the time to create something meaningful together.

Regardless of the setting, I see every shoot as an opportunity to capture genuine emotion and atmosphere. It’s the feeling within a moment—the subtle connection, the quiet expression, the energy between people—that elevates a good photograph into a truly memorable one.

That’s what I’m always searching for: those rare moments when everything aligns. When emotion, light, and composition converge to create something timeless.

Let’s bring it all together.
